October Tea and Talks with Nikki Burns

The T.Arts Artist of the Month is Nikki Burns. She will be our Guest Speaker at the October Tea and Talks at T.Arts. Come on the 17th October at 2.30pm to hear about Nikki’s artistic journey and enjoy some delicious afternoon tea. The cost is $25 and bookings are essential. Pay online or in the Gallery.

Here is some information about Nikki:

The Millthorpe resident has extensive experience in pencil and charcoal with a leaning to realistic form. She enjoys the tactile nature of using her hands and fingers to soften spaces, before sharpening her pencil to achieve the fine detail that some have seen as hyperrealism. It is something she has enjoyed doing since she was old enough to hold a pencil.

However, as most artists do, Nikki is also adept at other mediums including a growing interest over the past ten years with watercolour. It is in the paint work that she finds greater freedom than pencil, and she embraces experimenting with what the paint can do for her works.

Nikki finds the rural landscape and farming her main inspiration, with a particular focus on character sheds and abandoned equipment, and of course the marvellous light that falls across the Central West.

“My work is a way of recording the rural landscape as I see it today – a landscape that is continually changing, while preserving some of the details that might otherwise be lost,” says Nikki.
