Louise Ranshaw
Louise's work takes form in two strands:
Her utilitarian work likes to deliver colourful pieces to lend some joie de vivre to the long table idea. Some display the rustic quality of hand formed tableware for cooking and baking, while others, formed on the wheel, are colourful and generous and a delight to use.
In her one-of art pieces she likes to display a natural, organic quality which enhances the attributes of clay which she loves so much – carve it, pierce it, groove it, tear it, press things into it - the surface gives her such a buzz. These pieces are most often vapour glazed , a technique which either coats the undulations in the surface or touches them very lightly where parts of the work are in shadow. No two pieces ever come out alike.
